Let’s talk about our schedule. First, a bit about the boys: they are 14 (Money) and 17 (Bubba). If I had to put grades on them, Money would be 9th and Bubba would be 11th. They’ve both been accepted at a local college which has this killer program for homeschooled high schoolers. They can take classes while they’re still in high school. Here’s the kicker…it’s only $150 per credit hour! Man I wish I knew about it when Bubba started high school.
So, with two in high school you would think that we are always on the go. My anxiety couldn’t handle that. I don’t think they could either, to be honest. As a result, we are only outside the house three times a week. Four if there’s a play or something that isn’t on our days out.
Here is our current going out schedule:
|Music AM||Thesis NOON||Co-op AM||depends||depends|
So, Money has music lessons for four hours on Mondays. Then their college class is two and a half hours that evening. Doesn’t leave a lot of time left over for him. Bubba still has a full day as he dropped music for coding. Right now he’s working on C+. He does do extra on Mondays. Their thesis/lit class is about two hours long. It’s amazing! They’re using Lord of the Rings series to learn how to write a thesis paper. So cool!! Co-op is a meaty day. I teach writing for and hour and a half in the morning for our high schoolers. Then they have a 30 min break to hang with friends followed by and hour and a half of anatomy and physiology. That comes complete with dissections! Next week it’s fetal pigs. o.O
Thursday and Friday are reserved, sort of, for special events that come up. Most weeks we don’t have anything that takes us out of the house. Sometimes there’s a play or a concert we want to go to. Other times we go to a museum (we have killer ones near us) and some days we stay home in our jammies.
Our schedule here at home isn’t as simple. 😉
|coding (B)||coding (B)||coding (B)||coding (B)||coding (B)|
|music prac (M)||music prac (M)||music prac (M)||music prac (M)|
|study college||study college||study college||study college|
Whew! This one is a little more self-explanatory. I’ll get into the curriculum we use in a different post since this one is a bit windy. 😉
I’d love to know how our week differs from your homeschool. Let me know in the comments? 🙂
